KING’S THEATRE. A melodrama of more than usual strength, which has for its central figure a remarkable child will be found in ’‘The Little Duchess” the World Film play. Geraldine i's a little orphan who had lived with her English mother, in a New York tenement. With a little boy friend she runs away | and joins a circus, and this escapade I is made the means of introducing some j vivid and original touches into the story. She is traced down by the agents of Earl Carnimore and goes to live with him, as she is proved to be his grandchild. The grouchy old man learns a new view of life from his lovable little new and incidentally ’’the dark tragedy \that (had overshadowed the Ciarnimore family is brought to an end through a surprise discovery made by Geraldine. The supporting cast includes Pinna Nesbit and James Davis, the latter making a most satisfactory vill an. Noticing too much can be made of the acting of Madge Evans in this film. She is wonderful and no less. Some excellent English settings and remarkable photography make the film stand put among recent releases. Supported by “Iron Claw,” etc. EVERYBODY’S. Always good, Scssie Hayakawa a seen at his best in “The Gall of the East,” a Lasky photoplay, showing at the Town Hall, to-morrow (Saturday) The play is strong in dramatic interand it touches upon a question which has ever had a fascination for the student and the philosopher. “For East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet.” This is the problem upon which so many lives have been shattered, and it is this theme upon which “The Call of the East” has been constructed. It shows us the irresistible pull that the East has upon the white girl with Eastern blood in her veins. Her terrible struggle against her natural instincts and final surrender are worked up into a tense and powerful drama. On the same propgramme there is a Butterfly production “The Reed Case” featuring Louisp Lovely also the latest Paramount Gazette and comedy.
