FOUND IN THE RIVER.
RANGER'S DISAPPEARANCE. TAUMARUNUI, June 17. The body of W, J. Price, Crown Lands Ranger, of Wellington District, who left his home at Piriaka at three o'clock on Sunday morning, and failed to return, was found at two o'clock this afternoon. He had been suffering from an aggravated form of mumps for a week. As he complained of cold his wife went to make him a hot poultice, when she heard the click of the door and followed him quickly. She was too late to find her husband. She reported the matter to her neighbours in a scattered district, and search parties were out all day Sunday, when his dressing gown was found on the Wanganui river, half a mile away. A further search was made to-day, and the body was found near the Matapuna railway bridge, about five miles from Piriaka. Deceased's temperature was abnormal, and he would have died from exposure whatever happened. Deceased leaves a wife and three children.
