AMERICA AND THE WAR. WASHINGTON, June 15. It is officially announced that Poch informed General Pershing that it was desirable to maintain the American forces as separate units as much as possible. The American troops brigaded with the British and French will gradually be withdrawn. Mr. Baker announced that the fighting qualities of the American troops had received Foeh's praise. Satisfactory progress is being made with the production of Liberty motors. It is officially reported at Washington that M. Clemenceau, Foch and General Petain have congratulated General Pershing on the achievements of th American troops on the anniversary of the arrival of American soldiers in France. Chief of Staff, March, announces that over 800,000 American troops have been sent oversea. President Wilson, replyfhipto President Poincaire's congratulations on the anniversary of the United State's entry into the war, said the United States intended to despatch men and material to France until any inequality in force was entirely overcome.
