Official: An air raid alarm was .given yesterday evening, and some bombs were dropped There were' some victims and some material damage was done. FIGHTS OVER THE NORTH SEA. LONDON, June 15. The inceased activity of German naval airmen over the North Sea led to a number of exciting combats, in which the British more than held their own. Details ot the fight recorded on the Bth inst. shew that five British seaplanes were patrolling. Owing to a broken petrol pipe, one descended for repairs. The others chased off five enemy seaplanes, -who declined to fight, and subsequently chased away two more. Half an hour later ten Germans appeared. Our four immediately gave action, and drove down two large seaplanes Tidied with shot, one bursting into flames as it reached the water. One of orrs was damaged, and eventually landed at Vlieland, as did the plane with the broken petrol pipe. The crews were interned. During the fight two enemy machines were detached from the main body. An exciting combat followed, in the course of which one of our assistant pilots was shot in the head, and died instantaneously. The chief pilot continued to navigate the machine, although attacked from the rear and below by four of the enemy one one side and three on another. The British pilot nose-dived, and fought a running fight from the stern with all seven German machines. He finally forced them to break off the pursuit.
