Another tram p- rt containing 684 sick and would ;d men, arrived fa Auckland yesterday morning, and a train with the southern portion of the men passed through Taihape this morning. There v/ere only five cot cases on board, tnd the men have improved in health drring the voyage.
At the King’s Theatre on" Monday night there will be shown a picture of exceptional interest entitled “The Mother of Dartmoor.” This picture has had a splendid reception - wherever exhibited and will doubtless be thoroughly appreciated by local pic-ture-lovers.

It is stated on good authority (says a Masterton paper), that certain military deserters in the Wairarapa are armed with rifles and other weapons, and have intimated that they will not be taken alive for active service. The question of whether unarmed police or military ofiicers should attempt the capture of these men is under consideration.

One of the witnesses explained that this was - used, amongst other reasons, to enable a horseowner to get his money on without letting the postal officials into the secret. A silver filigree brooch, in the form of a rose, which has small intrinsic value, but has a great sentimental value, as it is a souvenir, lost in Taihape, is advertised for.
