WOMEN LEGISLATORS IN ALBERTA. Edmonton, the capital of Alberta, was recently the scene of a historical event when Miss Robert McAdams and Mrs. L, McKinncy were sworn in as members of the provincial legislature. They are said to be the first women to be sworn in as members of any Pajliameni in rho Brttisjlj Empire. Miss McAdams was elected as one of the representatives iof tli/o Alberta soldiers, now in France, where she was a Rod Cross nurse on .active service. The other soldiers' member is Captain the Rev. "Bab" Pearson, of Calgary. On being informed that she and Miss McAdams were the first women to take the oath -as members of a British legislature. Mrs. McKinney said: "We believe there will be others now that Alberta has shown the way," There arc thirteen members of the- Alberta House who are soldiers.
