IN IRELAND.

0 IRELAND AND THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. INTERFERENCE NOT FAVOURED,, Received 9.40 a.m. Mr. Geo. Reid, in a letter to +Ua Jjf Morning Post, condemns the suggestion to submit the Irish question to the Imperial Conference. He says this would go far towards destroying the valuable safeguard of Imperial unity* The line between the projects of Imperial co-operation and domestic politics ought to be rigidly maintained. Mr Reid adds: "My personal view is that any change in Ireland must be most welcome. Ireland must not add pressure to the war difficulties, but must strengthen and not weaken the integrity of that over-narrow base whereon the structure of the Empire rests. The Daily Chronicle says it is improbable that the Irish question will be submitted to the Imperial Conference. The indications ar e that both Home Rule and conscription in Ireland have been side-tracked. The Morning Post hope's the conferences won't be beguiledv into the Irish bog of Home Rule.
