Especially comforting, ho declared, was the feeling of strength and security one got from contract with the British. M. Benoult added that M. Clcr.icnceau at the front was simply extraordinary. In this connection a story is told of his visit to the troches at Montdidier the other day A nicely pciished steel helmet had been prepared for him. "What's this?" M. C.eincneeau exclaimed. ''Very kind of yO'\. but I prefer to my own cady (bibi)," added the Premier, wjho decs not distain Parisian slang. The word was passed down the trenches, whereupon the poilus clamly removed their tin hats and donned their forage caps.
