The correspondent of the "New York Times" with the American army in France says that a captured German told American officers that the German army had been reduced to three meatless days a week. About one half of the thirty-eighth reinforcements were absent without leave from Trentham Camp on Saturday. This draft went into camp shortly before Easter, and the men considered that they should now have final leave to go to their homes. The whole reinforcement made a demonstration a few evenings ago, and approached the commandant. No one was punished but the men refused the extra leave which they demanded. It is expected that those who have absented themselves will return to camp in a day or two

Mr. V. Nicholls, who is leaving TSlhape for camp on Friday next, is very anxious to get as mTrch of his business settled as possible, and in an advertisement in to-days' issue asks those who are indebted to, him to pay their accounts before his departure. The Garage will still be carried on by him, and Mr. Murgatroyd, a first-class motor mechanic, has been engaged to look after his business during his absence on active service. Mr. Murgatroyd has exceptional technical and mechanical abilities, and clients can have every confidence in his ability to turn out first-class work. • •-. •:■ r ; .
