TAIHAPE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The usual monthly of the School Committee -was held last night, Present: Mesdanies Be Latour, and Mawson, Messrs. Shennan -(chair), Burrell, Champion Swindells and Lovell. Mrs. Wardell' was appointed caretaker. The Visiting. Committee reported on work done and suggested that sawdust saturated with an oil disinfectant should be laid on the school floors prior to sweeping to prevent dust rising. The suggestion met with the approval of the Committee and the secretary was instructed to make inquiries about procuring a stock of sawdust.: The- matter of erecting a ience round the grass plots in order to protect them was left for Mr. Swindells to make a report as to cost at he next meeting. . . - > It was decided to erect V shaped fences on each of the two small gates to prevent. cattle straying into the school grounds. A circular wasireceived asking that the Ten Commandments should be printed on cards and placed in a prominent place in each class-room; also that the commandments should be read each day without comment. It was felt- that this matter lay outside the province of the Committee, and the matter was referred to the Education Board. .It was decided to remind Mr. F. Pirani of a promise made some time ago that if a certain sum was raised for the Technical School he wou-- provide a school bell. Messrs. Swindells and Shennan were appointed'visiting committee for the ensuing month, and the Committee adjourned.
