OVEE SAVING THE TEOPHIES. AUSTRALIA'S GOOD LUGS/ (From the Official Correspondent.) LONDON, May 11. It may interest Australians to know that when the Germans attacked Armentieres the whole of the recently collected portion of the magnificent list of trophies and relies which are being gathered in for the war museum of Australia was still in , Bailleul awaiting transport to the base. . . It appeared at one time as if there was no chance of getting these muchprized relics away, but the young Australian officer in charge of them finally managed to get them away from the town on the day of its heaviest bombardment, Every single .relic was moved from the burning,town before nightfall without the loss of any trophy or harm to any man. u ... The British authorities gave generous help, it being only by the personal assistance of the British that this important portion of the collection quickly and safely reached the Australian officer in charge and then England. * . ..
