FRENCH LAND ARMY.

In order to provide workers for the land the French Government has decided to mobilise all males in France, between the ages of 15 and 50 who are not engaged in a profession useful to the country. A census is to be taken of these men immediately whether French, allies, or neutrals, and no one is to be exempted except students and those doing their “bit” or persons unsuitable for farm work. Those called .up will remain civilians but will be under the command of officers and subject to military discipline. Farmers will provide food and lodging and pay about is 2d. a day.
