A special court was held at Galway to hear charges against six Sinn Feiners, who were accused of unlawful assembly and of atempting to break up a mooting addressed by Mr O’Malley, M.P_, at Clifden on March 3. Evidence was given that stones were thrown, and when the police made a baton charge the crowd shouted: “To hell with the police! To hell with the King! Up with the Kaiser and Germany! ” Five of the men were sentenced each to two months’ hard labour, and the Leaders to three months hard labour.
