POISONING BY LYSOL. PROPER TREATMENT. As poisoning by lysol or other crude carbolic acids is common, it is important that the proper treatment should be generally known, so that prompt measures may be taken in such cases. Dr. Robert Hutchison, the well-known, authority, in a recent work advises as follows: Empty the stomach by emetics —e.g., quantities of warm salt and water of the strength of two table-spoons of salt to a "pint of water. Give Epsom salts, half-ounce, in six tablespoons of water; limewater, two tablespoons in six tablespoons of water. Later, demulcent drinks, olive oil, brandy by enema; warmth. By demulcent drinks is meant barley water, linseed tea, white of egg in water, weak gruel, and such like.
