Commenting on the possibility of Japanese intervention in Siberia, the Rheinisch Westfaliscbe Zeitung says: “Present events in Russia give Japan the desired pretext for intervention in East Asia. The proposed Japanese action, however, has nothing to do with military action against the Central Powers. On the one hand, the despatch of the Japanese Army to the Eastern front is technically almost Impossible, while, on the other band, Japan has not the slightest interest therein. Japan’s policy is purely Japanese. Her dream is predominance in the East, and, if possible, the Japanisation of China and Siberia.
