PEASANTS REFUSE TO CULTIVATE POE GERMANS. ROME, May 14. The Popolo’s Moscow correspondent reports: Out of a million square kilometres of grain lands in Ukraine, only 50,000 have been cultivated this year, the peasants refusing to cultivate for the Germans, B'ERNE, May 14. The Munich ‘ 1 Nochtrichtcn ’ ’ states that enormous areas of Ukraine, including the expropriated estates of big landholders have not been tilled. The coming harvest will be insufficient to provide grain for the Ukrainian population. Some towns are already suffering from hunger.
