Various 1 officers j and crews of numerous ships joined in', j and the authorities yielded, granting | all the demands. The rising at Cattaro j took a more serious course. Six cruisers and a number of destroyers declared j for revolution. The German element refused to participate, and collisions occurred, resulting in some bloodshed. Eventually the mutineers seized the port, arresting the admiral and officers, They occupied the wireless station, from which they telegraphed their demands to the authorities at Vienna. The authorities replied evasively, while they motored a naval division to Cattaro. The mutineers opened negotiations, resulting in the mutineers surrendering with a promise that the Government would not punish the mutineers, The authorities dSsmisstfi several high officers on the grounds of lack of firmness. A new admiral was appointed with a reputation for severity.
AWFUL CONDITIONS IN VIENNA
PEOPLE DIE IN STREETS FROM EXHAUSTION. Received 11.55 a.m, MILAN, May 13. Two Italian nurses who have been released from Vienna state the conditions of life there are almost unsupportable. Deaths from exhaustion are continually occurring in the streets. A physician informed them that two thousand people are burned daily in the principal cemetery.
