RUMANIA.
RUMANIAN PEACE. AMSTERDAM, May 8. The treaty provides that ail guns and war material shall be held ’by the Central Powers until the general peace, and be guarded by Rumanian troops under the supervision of the Central Powers’ chief commander. A Commission composed of representatives of the Central Powers will demarcate the new frontier. Rumania will cede to the ‘Allied Powers interested that portion of the Dobrudja between the confluence of the Danube with the Black Sea to St. George’s branch of the river Danube. The frontier between the territory ceded to the Allied Powers and Rumania will be formed by the river valley. The Allied Powers undertake to assure Rumania a trade route to the Biacii Sea, via Cernadova and Constanza. Rumania agrees tnaf her frontiers shall be rectified in favour of Aust.
Hungary, The State property in the ceded regions of Rumania passes without indemnification to the acquiring States. The evacuation of the occupied Rumanian territories will be effected at a time to be decided later. Received 8.45 a.m. AMSTERDAM, May 9 The , Treaty between ,the Central Powers and Roumania provides a committee of Riparian States Control of the Danube below Braila, Roumania to guarantee free traffic to all States, also to permit warships to sail downstream to the sea, and upstream to the frontier of the States concerned. AUSTRIA ANNEXES .TERRITORY. Received 8.45 a.m. LONDON, May 9. An inspired communication from Vienna points out that Austria will receive six hundred kilometres south of Czernowitz and Hungary five thousand square kilometres of mountain land as war damages. The Roumanian destruction wrought in Transylvania is the justification for this annexation. ROUMANIA VIRTUALLY ENSLAVED. Received 10.10 a.m. LONDON, May 9. British newspapers are of opinion Roumania is virtually enslaved by the German peace terms, > particularly ' by Hungary’s seizure of the passes, the German hold upon the Danube and stationing of six German divisions in Roumania at Roumania’s expense in order to secure Roumanian corn, fodder, wool, cattle arid oil for the.
