ACCORDING TO HORATIO.
Mr. Horatio, Bottomley, the eminent British journalist, had a very ueuciiant article in the "Sunday Pic torial" recently, and the following is an extract from it: Let them not add J;o their crimes the wanton folly of the peace now within their grasp. After all the present Government cannot endure for ever —and they may be succeeded by men of sterner, colder, I more um elenting stuff—men who, with the memory of the crimes of land and sea and air burning in their souls, may—rightly or wrongly—consider it their task to wipe Germany off the map of the world. In other words, we may get back to the policy of the "knock-out blow" — which has always appeared to me the only policy in dealing with a nation like Germany. Men can't argue with a footpad—nor with a murderer or ravisher hot with the lust of blood and outrage. Germany is not, and has never been in any true sense, a "great" nation. She is a clog on the wheel of human destiny. In a few months' time we shall be having a general election. Possibly Mr. Lloyd George will again be at the head of affairs. Doubtless Coalition will still be the order of the day. But before this bloody business is finished, we shall want a Government—ruthless in its methods —unrelenting in its thoroughnes—cruel, callous, if you wil, but bent on one purpose, and one purpose alone. And that purpose is the crushing of Germany. Should such atime arrive, I hope to be a member of that Ministry.
