ROLL OF HONOUR.
Last week; the sad news came through of the death of Private Reg. Beiliss, who was killed in action in France during the present German offensive. Private Beiliss, who was 25 years of age, was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Beiliss, of Taihape. He enlisted in the Ninth Reinforcements, with his brother, E. A. Beiliss, and went into camp on the 12th Octo. her, 1915. Private R. Beiliss arrived in France in time to take part in the great Somme offensive, and went through all the subsequent operations up till the attack on Messines Ridge, where he was wounded. After a spell in hospital he was again in the firing line until his death. Reg. Beiliss, who was a pupil of the Taihape School, was a thorough sport, a good horseman, and a prominent member of the Pirates Football Club. Personally, he was a very popular young fel-‘ low, being well liked and respected by all who with whom he came in contact with. His death adds another member to the already long list of Taihape lads who have made the supreme sacrifice. A large circle of friends in this district will join with us in extending sympathy to the bereaved parents.
