FRENCH TRAITORS. SECRETS SOLD TO GERMANY. PARIS, April 29. A court-martial on the notorious Bonnet Rouge gang has opened. Seven defendants, including Duval, arccharged with trading in intelligence with the enemy. Mainion is charged with complicity with Duval and publishing documents concerning the defence of the country. Witnesses include M. M. Malwy, Viviani, Caillaux and Pianleve. It is expected the inquiry will throw some light on Malwy’s alleged connection with German spies, transmission to Germany of the plans of the Champagne offensive.
(The Champagne offensive -last year, which promised most important results, almost proved a complete disaster. The cause of this was the betrayal of the Frefnch plans to the Germans, who,, knowing exactly what the French intended to do, entrapped our ally.)
