A i Mr, Newman, in the House of Com-K 1 mons. called attention to the fact that a member of the Sacred College was pleased to oppose conscription in Ireland. He asked whether the Vatican’s attention had been drawn to the' fact in view of the latter’s neutrality* Mr. Bonar Law said he could hardly believe a member of the Sacred College would oppose the law when it was enforced. He had not informed the Vatican, assuming that the latter would be kept fully Informed.J. P. '©.’CONNOR’S' VISIT TO AMERICA. Received 9.10 a.m. WASHINGTON, April £6. Mr. T P. O’Connor, M.P., has arrived her from Chicago to explain to the United ’ States Government Ireland ’s attitude on Irish conscription. Interviewed, he said: "Ireland docs not desire to weaken England’s prosecution of the-war, hut wishes to see Ireland have her Parliament, which • would itself throw Ireland’s full - strength in support of the struggle for ■ freedom.
