AMERICA'S SHARP REPRISALS.
SPANISH SHIPS HELD UP IN U.S. POETS. PAEIS. America has taken quick reprisals in answer to Spain's interferences with the- shipment of supplies across the Spanish frontier into France-, and a private message which has just been received from Madrid says that the action of the United States Government has caused much consternation there. It seems that many Spanish ships now i n American ports have been refused permission to sail, and unless Spain allows the supplies in question to cross the frontier the United States may place an embargo on foodstuffs- ! for that country. Although Spain is not so situated geographically that it is an easy "matter to send supplies into Germany, chaiges have been made that goods from Spanish Morocco have been sent to Switzerland and thence to Germany. The official reason asigned for the interference complained of by America is that the Spanish railway trans- ' port system has broken down, but it has to be remembered that German money and influence are responsible for everything that occurs in.
