SHOOTING AFFRAY. FARMER SHOT DEAD. TWO SISTERS WOUNDED. OAMARU, April 15. A sensational shooting affray occurred at 8 o’clock this evening at Gemniells crossing, on the Kakanui River, about ten miles from Oamaru # A young married farmer, George Burke, and his two sisters were shot apparently without provocation. Details of the tragedy are meagre. Burke died before medical aid could be obtained. The young women, one of whom is in a serious condition, are expected to reach the hospital after midnight. It is reported that the assailant was a man belonging to Oamaru, and that, he used an automatic revolver. A police sergeant and constables were early on the scene but have not yet returned to town.
