Michael Moloney gave evidence as to finding the body lying about three feet from the rails. He saw marks'on deceased's head. He immediately rang up the police. David Hay stated that he drove the evening north-bound express on Thursday night. After arriving at Taihape he found human hair and blood on the cow-catcher of his engine. He felt no shock from having struck anything at Ohutu. Constable Petit deposed that about 8 o'clock on the morning of the 12th he was informed that a body was lying alongside the railway at Ohutu. From the position of the body and the injury to the head he was of opinion that Lloyd was struck by the cow-catcher of the engine. The verdict was that the deceased ' met his death by being struck by the cow-catcher of the north express on the night of the 11th April. No blame being attached to any person.
