AMERICA'S WAR BILL. .' £200,000,000 A MONTH. WASHINGTON, April 5. The United States spent £1,980,000,000 since sh.e entered the war, of which more than half amounts to loans to the Allies.' America's expenditure now-is £200,000,000 a montn. RESTRICTION OF IMPORTS. . NEW YORK, April-5. Mr. Peterson, Director of Imports, announces that no licenses for the importation of articles on the restricted list will be issued after Monday, 14th inst. This decision affects important non-essential articles from Australia. Licenses already granted are not affected after the date specified. AMERICA'S FIRST YEAR OF WAR ' 'PRUSSIA WILL GET A SURPRISE'' Received 8.40 a.m. LONDON, April 7. The Lord Mayor lunched with a distinguished company at the Mansion House to commemorate the United States 'entry into the war. Telegrams were read from the King and Lloj-d George.' The latter in his telegram stated that during the next few weeks America would give the Prussian military junta the surprise of their lives.
AMERICA ROUSED. 150,000 MEN CALLED UP. Received 8.55 a.m. NEW YORK, April 7. America has called up an additional draft of 150,000 men. There is coun-try-wide enthusiasm, apart from President Wilson's fighting speech. The New York Times says the word has been spoken which will ring through the nation, uplift the spirit of thei people, strengthening them, to meet-whatever sacrifice the war involves. '■< \ \'-v?
