MOTOR BUS WESOKBD. FALLS OVER BANK. *ff SEVERAL PERSONSINJURED. HAMILTON, April 6. A number of people, when returning to Hamilton from, a dance at Te Rapa in the early hours of this morning, had . a miraculous escape from serious injury. The morning was foggy, and the road rough, and a motor bus, in which the party was travelling, fell over a bank into an unfenced gravel pit about half a mile this side of Te Rapa # It had a drop of seven or eight feet. The- bus, which was crowded, was considerably damaged, the body of the vehicle being praetically smashed to pieces. With commendable presence of 'mind, the driver shut off the benzien supply, and thus prevented the 'bus catching fire. Several of the occupants were rather seriously injured. Miss McKennah sustained a fractured collarbone, C. Aitken (a returned soldier) had*one leg which had been hurt at the war again and a lady passenger had her teeth forced through' her upper lip. All the pasengers with the exception of two were more or less injured, being considerably bruised and cut by broken glass. They are also suffering a good deal from shock. It is miraeulaus .that there was no fatality .
