DROWNING ACCIDENT.
WAIHI, this day. A three-year-old daughter of James Jobinson was accidentally drowned in the upper reaches of the Ohinemuri River. She and her brother, aged five, hand in hand, were crossing a, plank, when both fell in. The boy reached the bank, but the girl floated downstream. The body was taken out half an hour later* Harold Chapman, a son of Rev. Chapman, Te Puke, was drowned yesterday while. surf-bathing at Papsmoa beach. All attempts at rescue failed owing to the strong undertow.
