CATHOLIC BAZAAR.
The Bazaar was continued last night, when there was a good attendance. During the evening some of the" minor raffles were got off. and the results duly announced on the blackboard. The various stallholders and other vendors were as keen as ever, and very good business was reported. A very pleasing and enjoyable feature of the evening was the dancing of a number of young girls pupils of Miss Blomfield, which was heartily applauded by those present. The chief attraction, as far as the male portion of the spectators was concerned was the final pull in the Tug-of-War, the contesting teams being Taihape Maoris and the N.Z. Railways. Taken somewhat by surprise the latter were pulled off the battens in less than a minute, the first prize thus going to the natives, who had considerably the advantage in weight. An exhibition between the same two teams, was given, but in this the Railway men obtained an advantage, which they maintained to the time limit. The Maoris have issued a challenge to pull any team that can be got together, and as ;i team will be forthcoming, the contest will be held to-night, A number of articles were auctioned during .the evening, Mr. E. McLaughlan officiating an auctioneer. The Bazaar will be held to-night.
