HOT AND COLD TORTURE. HUN PLAN TO FORCE PRISONERS INTO MINES. Six prisoners of war who escaped from German camps and have landed in England describe a new form of punishment devised for those who refuse to work in the mines of Westf phalia and endured by one of the men The prisoner is stripped naked and cast into a cell heated with hot air. The walls and roof are double-boarded with packing between, and when the door is closed, the heat is almost suffocating, as the only ventilation is by a hole the size of a 5s piece. The man sweats and gasps for a time, and then he is taken out and made to stand or sit naked in the open, no matter what the weather is, The exposure from one extreme to the other is torture.
