♦— A. SUBMARINE ENCOUNTER HOIST BY ITS OWN TORPEDO. Received 11.15. liONDON, March 24. The steamer Flixton, voyaging between Havre aiid New Port, encountered a submarine off Portland. It saw a torpedo approaching when the torepdo broke to the surface, became deflected from its course, making a complete turn like a boomerang, striking the submarine, which was preparing to fire a second torpedo. A terrific explosion and upheaval followed 1 .
