TAIHAPE SOLDIER HONOURED.
TROOPER C. H. LINEHAN.
Trooper C. H. Linehan, whose name appeared in the recent list as receiving the Military Medal, was~for some time stationed at Taihape Railway Station. He was 19 years of age when he enlisted at Ohakune." He left with the 7th Reinforcements in the Field Ambulance, and was among the last to evacuate tJallipoli. On "returning to v Egypt he joined the mounted ambulance, and later the mounted signallers. His squadron ran unexpectedly into a large body of Turks and had to retire. An officer was badly wounded and had his horse shot dead from under him. Trooper Linehan galloped back under heavy machine-gun and rifle fire, and put the officer on his own horse, getting him safely away. Trooper Linehan has since He has had some narrow, escapes, and in a recent letter 'he stated he had ten bullet woflnds through his signalling flag.
