FRENCH GANG OF SPIES.
INFORMATION OF SHIPPING.
LONDON, March 4,
A Paris message says that it is alleged that the principal operatinos of the Tremblez gang of spies were concerned in shipping arrivals and departures. This, it is suspected, explains the activity of the German sunmarines off the Brittany coast.
The “Matin” states that a search of 1 Tremblez’s chateau revealed docu-' .ments proving that he had communi- i cated with Germany. He bought the ' chateau some years ago. It is a beautiful mansion, near Quimperle. He lived as a gentleman farmer, with Ms wife and family. The neighbours state that Tremblez had few friends. Tremblez himself was noted for his mysterious motor trips at night. None, except himself, knew the destination of the motor. He spent the daytime in roaming the fields and woods, accompanied only by his dogs. The “Petit Parisien” states that the authorities recently suspected that German submarines were obtaining, or attempting to obtain, supplies from the coast of Brittany. They set a sharp watch on certain individuals. Tremblez, whose age is 38, and Suzy Hephy, a beautiful woman of 30, born |n Normandy, met Guillain during a boxing match at Lieppe six years ago. Guullain and his wife came to Paris, where the wifg goon began to appear &t the music hails, Lfittir.ty Suzy had 'noit lived with her husband. He lived in a small flat on the ground floor off Jhe Avenue Bloquet, and she occupied an elegant flat on the fifth floor of the same building. Suzy lately bought two motor cars, £4OOO worth of jewels, and recently appeared In a new t>lay. Oddly enough entitled "Les Nouveaux Riches.”
