HOLLAND’S REPLY RECEIVED

Holland’s reply to the Allies’ demand with regard to shipping has been received. The State Department has not disclosed its contents. ANGER AGAINST BRITAIN AND AMERICA, LONDON, March 20. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Rotterdam correspondent states that there is a rising tide of anger aganst England and America. The papers severely criticise the Government’s position. The ”Tyd” compares the feeling against England to that during the Boer War. The “Nieuwes” characterises the Government’s action as a “humiliating capitulation.” The correspondent adds: The Foreign Minister stated that Parliament has not received the Allies’ reply. Despite this, a rumour is persistent in financial circles that a fresh crisis has arisen, also that there are complications with Germany, as ah order has been issued prohibiting the Netherland inland waterways’ shipping going to Germany, or Belgium. It i s also said that the German Government refuses permission to Dutch canal boats now in Germany and Belgium to return to Holland.
AMSTERDAM, March 20. Parliament, by a small majority, accepted the Allies’ ultimatum.
