KEEPING UP ITS STRENGTH OTTAWA, March 18,

At the opening of Parliament tha Speech from the Throne stated that the Military Service Act was producing the men required for the upkeep of the Canadian Reinforcements at the front. Legislation outlined included the abolition of political patronage, bills to facilitate immigration and colonisation after the war, to encourage agricultural production, and to create a special Government department to provide for the care and education: of returned soldiers.
