PINAFORE DANCE.

A very enjoyable Pinafore Dance was held at Bennett's Siding on Friday last in aid of the local Red Cross funds. There was a large attendance from all round the district, and the dance was a S reat success. Several songs were rendered during the evening by Mr. Wham, of Taihape, which were much appreciated, and the music for the evening provided by Messrs Lang (piano), Martin (cornet), "afifr Growling (violin), added considerably to the evening's enjoyment. Musical assistance was ably rendered by Mr. Nam (bagpipes) and Mrs. ElfTs and Messrs Foss and Stone. Much amusement was caused just previous to supper, when the ladies handed over their pinafores to the gentlemen present. The floor was In excellent order, and dancing was kept going to an early hour. During the evening an auction sale was held, and a substantial sum realised. Mr. Ormond wielded tne hammer.
