NEW ZEALAND NEWS.

- —o • MYSTERIOUS SEAPLANES. SEEN FROM TAHUNA. A lady who was bathing at Tahuna shortly after 7 o’clock on Friday morning (says the “Nelson Colonist”)saw two unusual visitors over Tasman Bay. She states that on looking out to sea she saw two seaplanes quifefi distinctly. They were flying together near the surface of the water, and then separated, one going in the direction of the eastern hills. She watched this one until it was lost in the clouds. She then endeavoured to locate the other, but it had disappeared. The lady was rather diffident about telling the story, but she was so positive as to what she had seen that she spoke to a “Colonist” representative about it, in order to ascertain if the planes had been seen by anyone else. Unfortunately at the time she was inthe sea the only other person about . was in the dressing shed, and by the time he came out the visitors had gone. It was stated, a few days ago that a sepalaue had been seen in the. Sounds, but the story was scouted. THE TE ARAROA WRECKAGE. GISBORNE, this day. Mr. W. E. Goffe, a Native Land Purchase Officer, who has inspected the wreckage at Te Araroa and that; found nearer Gisborne, says he is convinced they are from the same vessel, evidently a three-masted ship. The melted copper and brass fittings found at Te Araroa support the fir© theory. The condition of the articles indicate that they had not been in the •water long. ; FLOODS IN GISBORNE. GISBORNE, this day. Very heavy, rain inland caused the flood waters to rise steadily last night, and the greater part of the flats in the country is inundated. This morning the flood is subsiding.
