WELLINGTON, March 5
The High Commissioner’s cabled market report, dated London, March 2, is as follows: Meat—Notwithstanding a very limited supply of all descriptions of meat, present siipplies meet requirements, the demand, being limited, owing to the fact that supplies consist chiefly of English meat, Patagonian lamb and Argentine mutton are selling at maximum prices. Of New Zealand lamb and chilled beef small supplies are available.
Butter is extremely scarce, and tlic supply falls short of the demand. ISTo change in price. Cheese —Stocks are very light, with the exception of Dutch. The estimated Canadian cheese stocks in Loudon, Liverpool and Bristol total 514-1 boxes against 26,163 boxes at the same time last year. Wheat More offering. Moderate business has been done at last quotations. Oats Active demand at full prices Hemp—For Manila hemp the market is steady, with moderate demand. The output during the two weeks ended February 23 was 40,000 bales. For New Zealand on spot the market is strong; market quiet and steady for forward shipment.
