LAWLESSNESS CONTINUES. SINN FEINERS BURNING AMERICAN FLAG. LONDON, March 2. Lawlessness continues in the west and south of Ireland. There have r been numerous raids for arms, cattle driving and the seizure of land, but the military now control County Clare. Civilians are not allowed out after nightfall. 'A party of moonlighters in Galway fired nine shots at a farmer’s house. There have been similar outrages i elsewhere. Sinn Feinors are also publicly burning the American flag. Eight youths, charged at Sligo with participation in an unlawful assembly, refused to remove their hats, and began smoking, and sang Irish freedom songs. The magistrate demanded an apology, when one said he did not recognise any representative of the British Constitution. The magistrate imposed a sentence of seven days for contempt of court. The prisoners thereupon threw themselves on the floor, and. while the police wer§ attempting to remove them the crowd in the court became threatening, and a detachment of military was summoned. The prisoners were' removed to a gaol amidst a scene of great excitement.
