The first Cost of Living Commission has recommended fixing the price of wheat at 32s per £OO lbs, also mixing wheat and maize flour for war bread.
The Minister of Railways said the Government was not prepared to fix the price, but would introduce a bill providing for the compulsory mixing of wheat and maize.

CAPETOWN, February 28. The Assembly, by 7S to 22, adopted General Botha's motion granting General Smuts leave of absence. The minority consisted of Nationalists. The Fremier emphatically declared that Seuth Africa vvi-3 «..n integral p-rt of the Empire. He said the Nationalists must either do their duty or establish a Republic. He intended to stand by the Empire and do his duty.
