TAIHAPE A. AND P. SHOW.
The Taihape Agricultural and Pastoral Show takes place on the 27th of this month —next week. The entries in all classes of stock ; are up to entries in previous years, but they would he twice what they are if agriculturists and pastoralists realised what such an exhibition really means, to them. A" nation will spend many hundreds of thousands of pounds, some millions/ in organising an exhibition of goods the people of that nation produce, yet here our yeomanry . and big-landed people have an exhibition made for' them through which products can be made known to the world, and some of them only support it with entries representing their hobbies or pleasures. On the other hand we have those enthusiasts who bars realised thattheir own progress, the progress of their district and the proIgress of the whole country depends i solely upon production from the land, and they are making the show next week an exhibition that it will be to every man and woman's profit to attend. There is n 0 fixture in this district that can be half the value to producer and people that the Agricultural and Postoral Show is, therefore, there is nothing so much to their advantage that producers and people can succour and support. This coming show will be an improvement on all others hitherto held, but it should have been an immensely better and more comprehensive exhibition. The convenience of the public is being thoroughly looked after; the Plunket Society is making it possible for all ladies with young children to be present. A mother's rest tent is being provided by that estimable body, which will be presided over by indefatigable Nurse Parlane. There are few ladies in this huge district who will not appreciate what that means. With fine weather there is sure to be an attendance easily breaking all previous records, despite the war. Farmers have as much cause as have any other class to be reaay for after-war conditions; they have not only to possess the stock the world will .want, but they have to let th£ world know they have it, and, in their own interests they should take every opportunity to popularise it so that the name behind ft will ensure highest prices. By building up a big show the producer has everything to gain and nothing to lose; little inconveniences are insignificant compared with advantages and benefits accruing.
