POLITICAL STORM IN BRITAIN,
LACK OF HARMONY BETWEEN PREMIER AND WAR STAFF.
LONDON, February 14
Lord Hugh Cecil, Unionist member for Oxford University, in a letter to the Times says: "There is a grave danger of our domestic politics sinking into a feud between Mr. Asquith and Mr. Lloyd George, and an even greater danger in Mr. Lloyd George and Sir William Robertson, disagreeing on a certain question of military policy, though | the efficient conduct of the war depends upon 'their hearty sympathy and co-operation. This suggests that a new National Government should be formed, of which Mr. Asquith and Mr. Lloyd George would be members, but under another Premier to whom the country could give universal support." • 'The Central News Agency has stated that although Sir William Robertson has neither been dismissed nor lias resigned, he may vacate his, present post as,-Chief of Staff at an early date, for a position.of high influence. The "Daily Chronicle, '.' howover, asserts that Sir. William Robertson remains at the War Office. . .. FRENCH VIEW OF THE SITUATION. , PARIS, February 14. M. Marcel Hiitin, correspondent of the '' Matin, '' says it is' possible that the .Allies' : military direction, which lia.s, caused, feeling in the House.:of Commons, will receive an almost immediate solut|qn satisfactory to everyone. The British command ,in France, the direction of the Imperial staff in London, and the British Army"s representative at Versailles will remain unchanged, but changes between London and Versailles may be expected.
