London, February 4

The Times correspondent at Dublin states that the result of the South Armagh election—when the Sinn Fein candidate, McCarten (who participated in the Irish revolution, and is now in prison in America for making false statements for his passport), was Cefeated by the Nationalist Donnelly—was largely due to Unionist votes. The Sinn Feiners are deeply cnagrlned but are going on with their agitation. They are highly organised and well supplied with money, and are adopting terrorism where they are strongest. Th e success of the Convention would draw their fangs, but failure would dangerously increase their activities.
