SOLDIERS’ PENSIONS.

Tho returned soldier in receipt of a pension has often asked if his pension would cease were he to leave New Zealand to take np his abode in some other country. The question was definitely answered in tho negative by the Pensions Commissioner, Mr. G, C. Fache, in Christchurch, last week. No matter, he said, where a soldier or the dependants receiving the pension went the allowance would continue. Returned soldiers, wives with or without children, fathers and mothers, widows, no matter what the subject of the pension might be, all were in the same category. As instances, Mr. Fachc said that there were dozens of dependants in England, Australia, Canada}, and all parts of the world receiving their pensions. With the Canadian and Australian Pension Departments there was a reciprocal arrangement, and

negotiations were now in progress to obtain a similar arrangement with South Africa, while it was hoped that some such agreement would shortly be reached with the Old Country.
