NEW WAR LOAN.

TO BE ISSUED NEXT MONTH,

CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 11

Sir Joseph Ward stated to-day, that the new war loan would be placed on the market some time next month. He was not sure what the sum would be, but it would be under £10,000,000, probably a few thousands over £9,000,000. Tbe actual sum depended to a large extent on the money coming in from war certificates issued from the post offices. They had come in fairly freely for some time, and the more that came in the less would bo the loan. Sir Joseph explained that this loan would be the balance of the authorities for £28,000,000 authorised last session, When the new loan was raised it would complete the authoiitics given by Parliament for war loans He said if the war continued until the end of July the sum would not be sufficient to meet the Dominion’s rcouirements beyond that date. If further loans were required Parliamentary authority would be asked to raise them.

The short session in April, Sir Joseph Ward stated, would be conducted on the principles established by tnc short session of 1909. It would be very short. There "would be no Budget, but probably a statement of finances would be submitted, and the Budget would come down at the ordinarv session.
