Mr. Baker’s communique to.day opines that a big German offensive at several points on the West front Is imminent. Germany is strengthening the West front with troops from the Austrian arm Russian fronts. There is great dissatisfaction in Austria owing to the despatch of Austrians to the West front.

Sir Douglas Haig reports: Hostile raiders were repulsed with loss yesterday south of Houlthulst Forest. % There was hostile artillery fire southwest of Cambrai. Several successful aerial reconnaissances were made on Saturday despite cloud's and high* winds. Neafly a ton of bombs were dropped on various targets. ' ; Observations the artillery to effectively, engage hostile batteries.'
Our bombing machines, . whereof one is missing, made a successful raid in unfavourable weather on Saturday, night. Nearly a ton of bombs was dropped with good results on an important railway junction and sidings at Courcelles les Menz
