PLUNKET SOCIETY.
A meeting of the above Society was held in the Nurse's r\)om, Town Hall, on Friday, Ist February. Nurse Parlane reported that there were now 208 babies on the books, of which 29 were new cases—lo in December and 19 in January. During December and January 273 visits have been paid to homes and 349 visitors were received at the various offf?es; 18 letters have been written and 11 received; and five mothers were taught to make humanised milk. The removal of the telephone to the office should prove to be a great advantage to mothers, as they can now rely on getting advice during office hours—from 12 to 1 p.m. and 2 to 5 p.m., on Wednesdays and Saturdays. As the Rest Tent for mothers at the summer show has proved such a success in the past it was decided to again have it in the showgrounds this year, with Nurse Parlane in attendance.
Letters were received from, the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies and the Ladies' Association of the 23rd City Batt. of the Royal Fusiliers, acknowledging the receipt of a ease of babies' cloths for the wives and widows of the soldiers and sailors of Britain, and exposing appreciation of the gift. It was resolve'd to continue the sewing, and a committee was formed to see that the work was carried out, and to undertake the packing and sending off of the next case of garments.
Subscriptions were received from Mesdames Kirschberg, Gibb, McCormick, Oliver, Whitehead, Barron, Barakat, H Rowling, and MacDohald.
