The Now Zealand , Times ’ Bluff correspondent telegraphs that John Topi Patukc has consented to . nomination for the Southern Maori seat. He is a son of the' late Kingi Topi, chieftain of., the Ngaitahu and* Ngatiraamoc tribes. The condidate Is regarded with great favour among the Maoris and Europeans, Educated at Te Ante College, he w r as a keen sport in his younger days, He has travelled considerably, and tried to enlist in the present war, but was debarred by the effects of an accident on the football field. He is a supporter of the National Government, and seeks Sir Joseph W’ard’s nomination as a Liberal
