The The following day Spanish gendarmes found two German sailors, who stated that they belonged to U-boats 294 and 295; They refused to state the fate of the submarines.
TWO GERMAN DESTROYERS
MINED
COPENHAGEN, Jan 24
One officer and 16 of a crew of a German destroyer ’ have landed at Honvig, on- the ‘west coast of Jutland. They sate that five destroyers left Heligoland -on Sunday: - When .they-.h^d,proceeded sixty miles, one destroyer—A77—was mined and sank. Destroyer A 73 hastened to her rescue, but she also was mined and sank, whereupon the remaining three steam ed away southwards The whole of the crew of the A7J perished.
