Mr W. A. Appleton, who recently started a discussion in the Federationist on Lord Leverhulme’s suggestion of a six-hours’ working day, has reccievd a letter from Air Tom Mann, who says that even a six-hours day will not absorb all on demoblisiation.

“It would be a mistake to fix any 'rigid number of hours for more than a short period, but my calculation Is that immediately on the close of the war we should establish a working week of 30 hours, that is, six hours a day for five days a week —two Sundays for everybody,” he writes. “To advocate an eight-hour day now is to be hopelessly in tFe rear of industrial and social requirements. My programme is five days a week six hours a day, and 20s a day for every day worked. ’ ’
